Oscar R. Trigoso, D.D.S. founded the Peruvian American Dental Association (PADA) in January 2006. PADA was established when he convened a group of 25 Peruvian colleagues in his own home and was elected as the association’s first president from 2006 to 2008. PADA’s first objective was to conduct dental missions to various underserved communities in Peru. After successful funding through social events, in June 2006 the first dental mission to Ayacucho, Peru was led by Dr. Trigoso in collaboration with the Peruvian American Medical Soceity (PAMS). He also led the mission to Chijnaya, Puno in 2010.

Dr. Trigoso was born, raised and educated in the Amazon Region of Peru, where there is an overall lack of medical and dental prevention and care. This motivated him to obtain his degree in dentistry from the National University of Mayor de San Marcos in 1975. He practiced in the town of Bagua in the Amazon until 1980. From 1980 until 1989, Dr. Trigoso worked in Dos de Mayo Hospital in Lima and in 1989 decided to immigrate to the United States with his family.

In 1994, Dr. Trigoso obtained his dental license from the Dental Board of California and also opened his practice in Pico Rivera. He also opened practices in Huntington Park, Azusa, and El Monte in 1996, 2006, and 2008, respectively. Aside from his dental degree, Dr. Trigoso has completed endodontic and aesthetic continuum courses, and has received recognition for his dedication and philanthropic work. In 2008, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru gave recognition to Dr. Trigoso for being a prominent and illustrious citizen outside of Peru. He also received recognition in the Amazon Region for being a professional heavily integrated in social service. Additionally, PAMS awarded him a certificate which highlighted his dedication and service to the Peruvian community.

Dr. Trigoso currently lives in Long Beach, California with his beautiful wife, Silvia, and two daughters, Silvia Marcela and Monica. Silvia Marcela works in international public health and Monica is a lawyer who defends victims of domestic abuse. The Trigoso family supports and collaborates with PADA on a variety of activities. He considers himself a fortunate individual because he has succeeded in integrating his colleagues in a partnership that grows each day and is committed to the people who need it most. Whenever possible, he loves to travel back to his hometown, Rodriguez de Mendoza, in the Amazon and enjoy his ranch.
